The future… now
I’m part of a Google + community where someone asked the question “How plausible is transparent aluminium?” It’s a good question, a reasonable question, just one that isn’t really a matter of plausibility. Transparent aluminium (Aluminium Oxynitride) already exists, and is likely to replace bullet proof glass in many applications.
Of course the other obvious question, the hypothetical one we’re all asking is “Why did the 60’s and comic books lie to us; where is my personal jet-pack?” Though even that is getting pretty close to here as long as you don’t feel that we need to retain that “burning jet fuel down the back of my legs” feature.
So my question is, how often does your research lead you from “I wonder if that’s possible”, to “Oh, they’re already doing that”?
Comments more than welcome…
